Attorney General, Anil Nandlall has initiated legal actions on behalf of the state against Troy Humphrey, the man who slammed into a fountain at the Eccles/Mandela Avenue Roundabout on September 15, 2023. The accident resulted in at least three persons being severely injured.

Humphrey was subsequently charged with dangerous driving.

According to a statement of claim seen by this publication, the AG (claimant) alleges, inter alia, that Humphrey’s actions resulted in (1) Damages in excess of one million dollars ($1,000,000) for the negligent driving of Motor car, registration number PAB 805; and (ii) Damages in excess of one million dollars ($1,000,000) for damage to public property, that is to say, the Water Fountain and other parts of the Roundabout situated at the intersection of the Eccles to Mandela Four Lane Road and Dumpsite Road East Bank Demerara.

According to the AG, reports from the Guyana Police Force investigation, including video footage of the said accident, “incontrovertibly” disclosed that the defendant drove motor car registration number PAB 805 negligently and at a fast rate when the car collided into the the Water Fountain and other parts of the Roundabout.
