Omai Gold Mines Corp. a renowned Canadian mining company, recently disclosed a series of remarkable drill results from its gold project in Guyana, specifically in the Wenot area. The exploration, targeting the West Wenot area, has unveiled a treasure trove of gold zones associated with the primary Wenot shear complex.

In August, the company had announced another discovery in the Wenot pit, located in Cuyuni-Mazaruni (Region Seven). It had announced that assays were received for an additional hole drilled in the Wenot target, which was an “excellent” gold discovery.

In the year 2023, the company successfully completed sixteen drill holes, accumulating a total of 6,131 meters. An updated Mineral Resource Estimate is on the horizon, with assays from the remaining five holes eagerly anticipated.

Elaine Ellingham, President & CEO of Omai commented on these findings noting, “These strong results from hole 23ODD-071 further demonstrate the extent of wide mineralized zones with good gold grades along the western extension of the Wenot deposit. This area, west of the past-producing Wenot pit, is particularly attractive as a potential area for initial mining. We are pleased with the results to date from this recently completed drill campaign, that exceeded our expectations.”

Ellingham emphasized the positive impact these results will have on the upcoming Mineral Resource Estimate. She noted the high potential for further expansion of the Wenot deposit, with multiple gold-bearing zones along the 2.5 km strike length of the Wenot deposit.

“With this phase of drilling completed,” Ellingham continued, “we await assay results for the remaining five holes, which are expected shortly. Once received, we can proceed with an updated Mineral Resource Estimate that will form the basis of a Preliminary Economic Assessment (‘PEA’) to commence thereafter.”

Hole 23ODD-071 was part of an extended exploration effort along the western extension of the Wenot deposit. This drilling campaign has proven highly successful, revealing wide zones of gold mineralization.

The most promising discovery was made in Hole 23-ODD-071, which reached the originally targeted gold zones, including the quartz-feldspar porphyry dike. The result: a very wide 70.0-meter zone averaging 2.26 g/t Au. This promising find, at a vertical depth of about 330 meters, suggests untapped potential for expanding the Wenot resource along the southern flank of the central Wenot zone.

Nevertheless, Omai said it is poised for an exciting journey as these discoveries promise to shape the future of the Wenot pit and the company’s operations in Guyana.
