Two men have been charged with the gruesome murder of two others during a row over a gold chain at a party in their village of Victoria, East Coast Demerara earlier this month.

Both victims succumbed to chop and stab wounds. Dead are William Montrose, 26, a miner of Side Line Dam Victoria and Eusi Bobb, 23, a mason also of Victoria.

Emperor Emanuel Chung, a 25-year-old Painter from Victoria village, East Coast Demerara, was charged today (Thursday) with the offence of Murder, Contrary to Common Law.

At about 09:30hrs, the accused appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Crystal Lambert, where the charge was read to him.

He was not required to plea and was remanded to prison. The matter was postponed to January 17, 2024.

Meanwhile, Ruel Warde, a 23-year-old Labourer of Victoria Village, East Coast Demerara, was arrested on December 22, 2023, and subsequently charged with murder.

The accused appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Crystal Lambert where the charge was read to him and he was not required to plea and was remanded to prison. The matter was postponed to January 15, 2024.
