In a bid to enhance its offshore drilling operations, ExxonMobil Guyana Limited has issued a Request for Information (RFI) seeking locals suppliers to provide technical solutions for wellbore intervention and re-entry tools and services.
Exxon, a globally recognized energy giant, has been a prominent player in Guyana’s oil and gas sector since its 2015 discovery. Operating in the prolific Stabroek Block offshore, Exxon has significantly contributed to Guyana’s emergence as a key player in the energy landscape.
Exxon said it’s presence in Guyana is marked by its strategic operations, and as such it plans to establish a services agreement for the provision of Fishing and Whipstock Services to support offshore drilling operations from a drillship. The company said its commitment to the region is evident as it aims to identify suppliers with a base of operations in Guyana, facilitating the maintenance and preparation of equipment for call-out, preferably close to the GYSBI Shorebase, on the East Bank of Demerara.
The RFI outlined technical specifications, covering recovery tools for various hole and casing sizes. This includes equipment like hydraulic set, one-trip whipstocks, mills, overshots, and more, demonstrating the intricate nature of offshore drilling operations that Exxon is undertaking in the region.
Emphasizing the significance of expertise, Exxon highlighted the necessity for trained personnel capable of operating fishing equipment and installing purchased equipment. Technical service personnel supporting operations on the rig are expected to be located in Guyana, underlining Exxon’s commitment to local talent and resources.
Exxon’s said its move to seek detailed technical information through this RFI reflects its dedication to ensuring the efficiency and reliability of its offshore drilling operations in the Guyana region. The company also announced that it looks forward to engaging with qualified suppliers who can meet these specific requirements.
