The body of a man identified only as “Saray”, whom police say is a vagrant, was found at about 06:30hrs today, in a trench at 10th Field, Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

The man who is of East Indian descent was found lying on his left side, clad in a gray jersey and long blue jeans, partially underwater.

Emergency Medical Technicians from the Central Fire Service responded, and the victim was pronounced dead by Dr. Etwaroo of the Georgetown Public Hospital.

The scene was processed by crime scene ranks who examined the body for marks of violence but none were seen.

The man’s body is currently at the Memorial Gardens Mortuary awaiting identification and post-mortem examination.

The disturbing discovery comes four days after the body of Edward Bramnarine, also known as Eddy, another suspected vagrant, was discovered at Water and Holmes Streets, Georgetown.

Reports indicate that a female vendor in the area was on her way home when she saw Bramnarine, who was known to her for over 18 years, lying motionless on the street, bleeding from a wound to his left side chest. No one else was around.

She immediately called the Ambulance Service, which arrived shortly after and Bramnarine was pronounced dead by Doctor Durga from the Georgetown Public Hospital.
