Police have arrested two suspects wanted for the murder of Eon Holder, a 43-year-old taxi driver from North Ruimveldt, Georgetown. Holder was shot dead on February 24, 2024, near Bourda Market.

The two suspects were nabbed during an operation in Regional Division 4’A’ yesterday (Wednesday, May 22, 2024). The men have only been identified by police as a 50-year-old and a 30-year-old, both from Queen Street, South Cummingsburg.

Holder was killed early in the morning while driving his car, PRR 271. He was hired by a businessman to go to the Bourda Market to purchase vegetables. According to reports, around 04:40 hrs, the businessman exited the car on Alexander Street and walked towards the market, leaving Holder searching for a parking space. Just five minutes later, a loud explosion was heard. The businessman turned to see Holder lying on the ground about 15 feet from his car, with two men, one armed with a handgun, fleeing the scene.

Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) were summoned, and Holder was pronounced dead at the scene by a doctor from the Georgetown Public Hospital. Examination of the body revealed what appeared to be a gunshot wound on the right side of his face. Holder’s body is currently at the Memorial Gardens Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.

Initial police investigations revealed that the altercation may have stemmed from Holder parking his car in the center of the road, blocking other vehicles. An argument ensued, during which one of the suspects allegedly drew a handgun and shot Holder.
