As the only living politician in Guyana’s history who has served two terms as president, General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party/ Civic (PPP/C), Bharrat Jagdeo declared, at his most recent press conference, that Azruddin Mohamed is no threat to his party. According to Jagdeo, the bubble of the Mohameds will burst soon as the time is fast approaching when Azurddin will have to step out of his comfort zone.

Jagdeo accused the Mohameds of running a social media campaign that features phantom accounts. He said that a paid bunch of people are manning several accounts creating the false perception that Azruddin is well loved and supported in his bid to become president. Jagdeo said that the fake accounts are obvious as most of them are locked.

When Azruddin spoke to media operatives on Thursday last outside the court, he said that his team has done a study across Guyana where a sample audience of 80k prospective voters were surveyed. The presidential hopeful said that some 65% of that number, indicated that they will be backing him for president at the upcoming polls.

Addressing this claim some hours after it was made, Jagdeo said that it highlights the extent of Azruddin’s delusion.  Jagdeo said that even in the United States, a poll sample is not that big. “Something has to be wrong with you to believe that.”

Jagdeo said that the Mohameds would do well to understand that Chat GPT and fake Facebook accounts don’t win elections.

The longstanding politician added that the propagation of 200 fake profiles and edited speeches delivered in a controlled environment can deliver a false impression of the Mohameds.
