The 2025 National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) results have shown the highest overall performance in the last five years across all four core subjects: English, Social Studies, Science, and Mathematics.

According to data presented Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC), Director of Operations, Dr. Nicole Manning, student performance has steadily improved year-over-year, but this year stands out as a record-breaking success.

English continues to be the strongest subject among students, climbing from 65.71% in 2021 to 69.25% in 2025. Social Studies followed closely, moving from 56.30% in 2021 to 64.77% in 2025, marking a continuous upward trajectory over the five-year period.

While English and Social Studies showed steady growth, the most remarkable improvements came in Science and Mathematics, traditionally the more challenging subjects for primary school students locally.

Science scores surged from 40.12% in 2021 to 63.70% in 2025.

Mathematics, long seen as a subject of concern, posted the most dramatic rise. After languishing in the mid-30s from 2021 to 2023, Maths jumped from 40.36% in 2024 to a solid 55.51% in 2025.
