If successful at the September 1 poll, the Alliance for Change (AFC) will offer a two-months tax-free bonus to men and women in the joint-services. The party has also promised a starting salary of $250,000 and a $150,000 minimum salary for the lowest-ranked officers starting September 2025.

In a flyer shared on its Facebook page, the Nigel Hughes-led party is also promising up to 100% salary increases across the ranks, from junior to senior officers and a one- month tax-free bonus for Guyana Defence Force (GDF) civilian workers.

Moreover, it promised a $50,000 extra tax-free bonus for all border-stationed ranks and a $100,000 annual cash grant for every member.

Also, the party said that it will give free house lots to every member who turns 18-years-old. Ten million dollars will also be given to families if a joint-service member dies in the line of duty.

A $5M one-off payment will also be paid for permanent injury on duty and $2.5 million for off-duty permanent injury.

The party also promises no political interference in promotions, emphasising that members must earn their rank fairly.

“AFC will restore professionalism, pride and respect in the uniform,” the party said.
