While there was a five percent increase in pass rate in Mathematics at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certification (CSEC), the overall performance rate still stands at 32 percent.
Making this revelation today was the Chief Education, Officer Saddam Hussain during the announcement of results.
This represents a five percent increase from last year’s rate (27 percent).
According to the official, this increase is “significant in any aspect of education gained in a single year”.
Meanwhile, English A and B witnessed pass rates of 71.2 percent and 63.8 percent respectively.
The overall pass rate stands at 66.7 percent.
Some 12,685 students wrote these exams.
CAPE
The Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) has sustained a decline with the pass rate standing at 91.2 percent, compares to 92.5 in 2024.
A total of 650 local candidates wrote CAPE this year.
Guyana Standard understands that these scores are preliminary results and students can make requests for appeals.
