Home Affairs Minister, Robeson Benn on Tuesday last commissioned newly constructed and upgraded police facilities in Region Six, all of which are aimed at improving operational efficiency, supporting law enforcement, and enhancing community security.No photo description available.

The projects, completed under the Ministry of Home Affairs’ capital development projects, represent a significant step forward in the Government’s broader effort to modernise policing and deliver improved services to citizens.

Reconstruction of Regional Division Six Headquarters

The highlight of the commissioning was the reconstruction of the Regional Division Six Headquarters at a cost of G$228,192,300. The modernised headquarters is equipped with the same advanced amenities found in recently completed facilities nationwide, including upgraded workspaces, enhanced information technology systems, and improved accommodations for officers.

The upgraded facility is expected to strengthen coordination and efficiency within the division, benefiting both law enforcement officers and the public.

Construction of the New Amsterdam Boat House

Also commissioned was the Boat House at New Amsterdam, constructed at a cost of G$48,000,000. This facility is designed to enhance maritime policing operations and includes: A fixed walkway extending out to the river, a fixed ramp for safe and efficient boat access, a surveillance tower and living quarters for officers, and space to house two fully equipped patrol boats.May be an image of 3 people

The Boat House significantly improves the force’s ability to respond to incidents along the Berbice River and strengthens overall maritime security in the region.

Reconstruction of Rose Hall Police Station

As part of the ongoing infrastructure upgrades, the Rose Hall Police Station was also reconstructed at a cost of G$70,788,160. The upgraded building supports better working conditions for officers and fosters a safer, more welcoming environment for the public.

Command Operation Region Six Facility

Additionally, Minister Benn commissioned the Command Operation Region Six Facility, built at a cost of G$20,953,963. These projects form part of the Government’s strategic investment in law enforcement infrastructure aimed at enhancing security, building public confidence, and providing the tools and resources required for effective policing.

Minister Benn reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to improving safety across the country, noting that these projects are aligned with the broader Safe City to Safe Country Project, which integrates technology, modern facilities, and upgraded resources to build safer, more secure communities.
