Construction of the Regional Food Hub at Yarrowkabra along the Linden–Soesdyke Highway is progressing steadily as the Government of Guyana advances efforts to position the country as a key food production and distribution hub for the Caribbean.

The facility forms part of Guyana’s contribution to strengthening regional food security under the Caribbean Community’s food import reduction initiative. Once completed, it will support the aggregation, processing, packaging, and export of agricultural produce to markets across the region.

His Excellency President Dr. Mohamed Irfaan Ali has previously noted that the Regional Food Hub will play a strategic role in improving the efficiency of Guyana’s agricultural supply chains while supporting the country’s goal of becoming a major supplier of food to the Caribbean.

Minister of Agriculture, Zulfikar Mustapha, has also emphasised that the project represents a significant investment in modern agricultural infrastructure. He explained that the hub will provide farmers with improved market access, enhance value-added production, and strengthen Guyana’s capacity to support regional food security while expanding opportunities for the local agriculture sector.
