Agriculture Minister, Zulfikar Mustapha, who is currently in Belize attending the National Agriculture and Trade Show 2026 in Belmopan City as the guest speaker, continued his programme of engagements with a series of meetings and facility visits aimed at strengthening regional partnerships and exploring opportunities for collaboration in key agricultural industries.
As part of the visit, Minister Mustapha met with representatives of BELCAR and toured the company’s grains, feeds, and oils operations. Discussions focused on supply chain development, feed production, agro-processing opportunities, and the role of value-added industries in supporting agricultural growth and food security.
The Minister also met with officials of Reimers Feed Mills, where matters relating to livestock feed production, innovation in feed formulation, and improving support systems for poultry and livestock producers were discussed. Minister Mustapha noted that affordable and reliable feed inputs are critical to expanding Guyana’s livestock industry and improving competitiveness.
Additionally, the Minister held discussions with representatives of Western Dairies and the Spanish Lookout Farmers Committee. The engagements centred on dairy production systems, cooperative farming models, farmer support structures, and strategies to enhance productivity and market access for producers.
