Twenty-six-year-old Dailen Paneque Gómez, a Cuban national who was reported missing, was found dead on Wednesday evening.
Police said they are now investigating the murder of the woman who resided at Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara.
A police constable has been arrested and is presently in custody assisting with the investigation.
Paneque Gómez was reported missing after she was last seen during the early morning hours of Thursday June 18, 2026, while reportedly on her way to work.
According to the GPF, detectives from Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters, conducted sustained investigations and Paneque Gómez decomposed body was recovered on Wednesday June 24, 2026, about 19:50hrs, in a clump of bushes on the East Coast Demerara.
Police said as the investigation progresses, a detailed report will be released.
