According to the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday, the facility will expand the Guyana Fire Service’s (GFS) capacity to respond to fires and other emergencies.
This will help to safeguard lives, property, and communities in the region.
For years, emergency responses in Region Two have largely depended on the Charity and Anna Regina Fire Stations.
When completed, the fire station is expected to ease the operational burden on those facilities by providing an additional base for firefighters and emergency personnel.
The ministry said the project forms part of the government’s broader effort to improve fire protection along the Essequibo Coast following the devastating Charity fire in 2023.
The investment in Region Two forms part of wider efforts to modernise the Guyana Fire Service nationwide.
Under the 2026 National Budget, the Ministry of Home Affairs has been allocated $52.1 billion, with funding earmarked to expand and upgrade the Guyana Fire Service’s infrastructure and services. (Department of Public Information)
