The Guyana Police Force has issued a wanted bulletin for Satrohan Rajkumar, called “Depo”, in connection with the murder of Ricardo Fagundes, popularly known as “Paper Shorts”.

According to the bulletin, Rajkumar is wanted for the offence of murder committed on March 21, 2021, on Main Street, Georgetown. Fagundes was gunned down in an execution-style killing outside Palm Court on Main Street after reportedly stepping outside the establishment to take a telephone call.

Police are urging anyone with information regarding Rajkumar’s whereabouts to contact 911, 227-1611, 268-2328/268-2329, 226-3411, 225-8196, 227-1159 or the nearest police station. All information will be treated with strict confidence.

The murder of Fagundes, a well-known gold dealer, biker and motor racing enthusiast, has remained one of Guyana’s most high-profile unsolved killings. He was 42 years old at the time of his death.

The Guyana Standard, in a March 29, 2021 report, said Fagundes was closely associated with convicted drug trafficker Roger Khan, who later claimed that he, not Fagundes, was the intended target of the deadly attack. The publication reported that Khan had criticised the pace of the investigation and alleged that the gunmen mistook Fagundes for him.

The Guyana Standard reported on June 27, 2021, that CCTV footage obtained during the investigation showed two armed men exiting a white motor car parked along the eastern carriageway of Main Street before opening fire on Fagundes. After he collapsed, one of the gunmen reportedly returned and discharged additional rounds before both suspects fled the scene. The getaway vehicle was later discovered burnt at Swan Village, along the Soesdyke-Linden Highway.

The Opposition Leader, Azruddin Mohamed, a US-sanctioned businessman has also bewn accused of playing a role in Fagundes’ murder. The We Invest in Nationhood Party Leader continues to deny these allegations amid an expose he made several weeks ago, linking President Dr Irfaan Ali to a multi-billion dollar ranch along the Linden Soesdyke-Linden.
