Police are investigating an alleged murder which occurred on Sunday, September 6, 2026, at about 22:00hrs at Albion Front, Corentyne, Berbice, resulting in the death of Franklyn Sauers, called ‘Franky’, a 34-year-old fisherman of Glasgow Housing Scheme, East Bank Berbice.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Sauers and the suspect, a 28-year-old fisherman of Albion Front, were known to each other. On the night in question, the suspect was at his residence when Sauers reportedly entered the house, during which an altercation ensued.
Police ranks subsequently responded to the location, where Sauers was found lying motionless in the living room with apparent stab wounds to his neck and left rib area.
The 28-year-old suspect was contacted at the scene, arrested and escorted to the Albion Police Station, where he was placed in custody.
Sauers was taken to the Port Mourant Public Hospital, where he was examined by a doctor on duty and pronounced dead on arrival. His body was subsequently taken to the Ramoo Funeral Home, where it is awaiting a post-mortem examination.
The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
