Mark Cromwell, also known as “Demon,” on Thursday denied any involvement in the disappearance of two Surinamese nationals and rejected suggestions that he or members of his family are connected to the investigation.

Cromwell’s wife and brother were arrested and taken to the Criminal Investigation Department.

In a live Facebook video, Cromwell explained how police conducted an operation at his home where his wife was arrested and taken into custody.

Cromwell explained how he received intelligence information before the police operations were conducted.

He emphasized that his family is being victimized.
He denied any role in the suspected kidnapping or disappearance of the men, who reportedly travelled from Nickerie, Suriname, toward Guyana more than a month ago and have not been accounted for.
Cromwell’s comments follow police operations in Vigilance and Buxton East Coast Demerara, where searches have been conducted and several persons have reportedly been detained as investigators pursue leads in the case. Unrest erupted in Vigilance this week after police moved against relatives of Cromwell in connection with the probe.
Roads were blocked with debris. A construction truck and the debris were set ablaze.
Cromwell acknowledged that he has had “a past” but insisted that this should not be treated as proof of involvement in the current case.
His name has previously appeared in police wanted notices connected to a separate 2024 investigation into the alleged abduction of former policeman Delon Alexander, also called “Portmore.”
He is also sanctioned by the US for drug trafficking.
