An arrest is yet to be made in the shooting of a 62-year-old Rural Constable assigned to Minister within the Ministry of Social Protection, Keith Scott.
The victim, who has been identified as Michael Williams, was shot once to the hip and buttocks during a robbery. He is hospitalised in a stable condition.
According to information received from the police, the victim was at Market Street, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown around 06:30 hrs yesterday when two men on a motorcycle confronted him.
The bandits demanded the victim’s jewellery but he refused and attempted to draw his weapon. He was, however, shot twice by the pillion rider. The men were forced to escape empty-handed.
The investigation is ongoing.
