A 24-year-old labourer has drowned after he reportedly plunged overboard.

Dead is Danny Hendricks of St. Monica, Upper Pomeroon River. The incident occurred between 18:00hrs on Friday and 09:00hrs on Saturday at St Monica Village in the Pomeroon River.

Reports are that on November 20, 2020, at about 10:00hrs, Hendricks left home and reportedly started imbibing with friends at a nearby shop. He later returned home at about 18:00hrs, highly intoxicated, where he met his 13-year-old sister, Reena Hendricks.

She told investigators that her brother suddenly jumped overboard and disappeared. Reena then informed her eldest sister, who alerted neighbours.

At about 09:00 hrs this morning, a search party was launched, and Danny’s body was fished out of the Pomeroon River. His body was escorted to the Charity Hospital, where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty who pronounced him dead on arrival.

The man’s body was then taken to the Suddie Public Hospital mortuary awaiting a Post Mortem Examination. Police said that the body bore no marks of violence.
