Opposition Leader, Aubrey Norton believes Vice President, Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo is suffering from a mental illness. It is the only reason, Norton said, to explain why Jagdeo called for former Head of State, David Granger to throw his support behind the PPP.
In a recent interview with Kaieteur News, Granger reaffirmed his unwavering support for the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR). He also cautioned youths to choose their next government wisely, urging that they choose substance over rhetoric and empty promises.
At his weekly press conference on Thursday, Jagdeo in his capacity as General Secretary of the People’s Progressive Party (PPP), said by Granger’s own logic, citizens should vote for the current regime. Given the extent to which the PNC fooled, used and abandoned youths, Jagdeo said the former leader would have been better off pledging allegiance to the PPP. Jagdeo reasoned, to tell youths to choose substance but still vote for the PNC, is utterly contradictory.
Those sentiments did not sit well with Norton. The opposition leader said, “I believe that Bharrat Jagdeo is going mad. Some mental problem exists. Why would this… I will save the description. Why would he suggest that David Granger was wrong to endorse the party that David Granger is a member of and was a leader in? It is a contemptuousness that characterizes this spin doctor, this failed president.”
Norton said Granger, a predecessor that he continues to admire, would never forsake his political roots and endorse a party that is the summit of corruption or one that has never built a proper road. He reiterated that the Vice President is bordering on the ridiculous by suggesting Granger raise a red banner and carry a cup as his new sigil.
