Incumbent Vice President and People’s Progressive Party/ Civic (PPP/C) General Secretary Bharrat Jagdeo on Friday dismissed as “stupid” a letter from APNU presidential candidate Aubrey Norton calling for the 2025 general and regional elections to be quashed or subjected to a forensic audit.
Norton’s letter to the Guyana Elections Commission alleged a series of irregularities in the electoral process. His call came after official declarations showed APNU failed to win any of the 10 districts, losing District 4 to the PPP and District 10 to the newly formed WIN party. Nationally, APNU slipped to third place in the vote count, trailing both the PPP and WIN.
Jagdeo said Norton’s request will not obstruct the process, noting that preparations are already underway for a swearing-in.
