Police in Regional Division #7 are investigating an alleged murder that occurred between Saturday, February 28, 2026 and Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Granny Road, Sand Hill, Cuyuni River.
The incident has resulted in the death of a male known as “Mikey.” His correct name and other particulars are currently unknown.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim had been residing at a farm in the area along with other workers. On the evening of Saturday, February 28, 2026, he reportedly left the camp and went to a nearby shop in the company of another male.
At about 08:00hrs on Sunday, March 1, 2026, his lifeless body was discovered at the side of the road, several metres away from the shop.
The body bore multiple stab wounds to the upper body. It is being escorted to the Bartica Regional Hospital for official pronouncement and will subsequently be taken to the Bartica Mortuary, where it will await a post-mortem examination.
Five males, including individuals who were reportedly with the deceased prior to the discovery of his body, have since been arrested and are in police custody assisting with investigations.
