Police in Regional Division 4 ‘C’ are investigating an alleged larceny of cattle and possession of carcass that occurred between Saturday, March 14, 2026, around 17:30hrs, and Monday, March 16, 2026, around 06:00hrs at Bachelor’s Adventure, East Coast Demerara. The victim is a 61-year-old farmer from Melanie Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the farmer had left two heifers grazing in a pasture at Bachelor’s Adventure. Upon returning later, the animals were discovered missing.
Further inquiries led police to a location at Factory Road, Paradise, East Coast Demerara, where a 44-year-old male resident of Paradise was arrested in connection with the incident. Suspected beef and the skin of one animal were recovered and lodged as investigations continue.
Police have successfully recovered one of the missing heifers alive, and investigations into the matter are ongoing.
