Another woman lost her life following an accident this morning on the Success, East Coast Demerara (ECD) Public Road. She was one of the passengers in the minibus that was involved in the crash.

The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old Patricia Ellis of Lot 30 Haslington, ECD. She died while receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation. Ellis was heading to Bourda market at the time of the accident.

Another passenger, Denise Culley, 58, of Lot 89 Vigilance, ECD, died at the scene of the crash this morning. One of Culley’s arm was ripped from her body following the accident.

Both women were heading to the market to ply their trade as vendors.

According to information received, route 44 minibus with registration number BTT 4910 was heading to Georgetown at a fast rate when it suffered a blowout and crashed into the concrete strip at the centre of the road and toppled several times before coming to a halt.

The driver has since been arrested. Several other passengers sustained injuries and are at GPHC.
