The Private Sector Commission (PSC) is calling on all political parties, their supporters and the entire country at large to respect the recent decision of the Appeal Court which deemed the December 21 no confidence motion invalid.

In the same breath, the organisation also urged the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) to continue its preparations for the holding of General and Regional elections whenever they become constitutionally due.

The call from PSC comes after yesterday’s (March 22) ruling saw two of the three appeal court judges determining that 44 votes – and not 43 – were needed to pass the motion in the National Assembly. The judges, Chancellor, Justice Yonette Cummings-Edwards and Justice Dawn Gregory ruled that 44 votes would constitute an “absolute majority”.
