A 19-year-old miner was stabbed to the chest Friday night by his intoxicated boss at Blackwater Island Backdam, Cuyuni River.
The deceased has been identified as Dave Boyal, a miner of Batavia, Cuyuni River. He was reportedly attacked just before midnight on Friday.
According to information received, Boyal and two other miners were lying in their respective hammocks when the suspect entered the mining camp. The Guyana Standard was told that the intoxicated man proceeded to cut down the hammocks and this resulted in an argument between the men.
Reports are that when the teen miner tried to talk to the suspect, he armed himself with the arrow and stabbed him. The teen died on the spot. His body is presently at the Bartica Hospital mortuary awaiting a post mortem examination.
The 30-year-old suspect, who also hailed from Batavia Island, Cuyuni River is currently in police custody.
