Days after police were able to crack a 2009 cold case, two men were today charged with the murder of an elderly businesswoman which occurred some five years ago after they both allegedly implicated the other in the crime.

The men, Malcolm Culley and Shaheed Ally, were jointly charged with the murder of 65-year-old Sumintra Dinool.

The allegation against the two stated that both of them between June 14 and June 15, 2014 at Barr Street, Albouystown, murdered Dinool.

This morning when the matter was called in the courtroom of Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty, the men were taken separately into the courtroom for the joint charge to be read to them. The police are alleging that both men gave statements implicating each other to the crime.

Culley, who was in court first, shouted upon leaving, “You leff all four of my children to suffer now. Look what you did.” Soon after Ally exited the prisoners’ chute.

Police Prosecutor Seon Blackman indicated to the court that the men will be kept at different holding facilities.

According to information the woman heard a noise at her door and she opened the door. It was reported that the men dragged the woman to her bedroom where they gagged, tied her to a bed, and strangled her.

Reports also indicated that the men ransacked the house before carting off money, electronic items and other valuables. Just last year the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) withdrew an attempted murder charge against Culley.

His associate, Ally was recently released from prison on a narcotics charge.

Both men are expected to make their next court appearance on April 23, 2019.
