A 40-year-old man was stabbed to death by his stepson this morning during a “drinking session” at their home in Grant Bethany in the Pomeroon River.

The deceased has been identified as Eon Williams, a farmer. He was stabbed to the abdomen and died on the spot. The suspect has since confessed to stabbing the deceased with a knife. The murder weapon was handed over to the police.

The Guyana Standard has been informed that the deceased, the suspect, and another relative were imbibing when an argument ensued between the men. According to information received, the suspect and the deceased subsequently became engaged in a physical altercation when both men picked up objects and began hitting at each other.

The suspect reportedly armed himself with a knife and stabbed his stepfather. He later handed himself over to the police.

The young man is expected to be charged soon.
