The body of a female taxi driver was found face down in a drain this morning at Dairy, West Bank Demerara (WBD). The deceased has been identified as Jenny Beepat of Samaroo Dam, Pouderoyen. She is believed to be in her late 40s.
Furthermore, Guyana Standard has been told that the car the woman was using to ply her trade is missing. The vehicle was only purchased a few months ago by the deceased’s son as a present.
While no marks of violence were found on Beepat’s body, police ranks suspected that her killer held her head down in the shallow drain and drown her. She might have been killed in the wee hour of this morning.
According to information received, a resident in Dairy was going to the shop this morning when she saw Beepat’s body in the drain. An alarm was subsequently raised and the police were called to the scene.
The body was identified by the woman’s son. An investigation is ongoing.
