The President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo will ensure that Guyana gets the assistance it needs in areas such as oil and gas, regardless of who wins the next general and regional elections. This was revealed to members of the media corps today by Opposition Leader Bharrat Jagdeo.

At his press conference today, which was held at his Church Street Office, Jagdeo said that the highlight of the week was the recent two-day visit by the Ghanaian President. During his meeting with Akufo-Addo, Jagdeo said that there were extensive discussions regarding the relationship between the two nations, which goes back to the 1950s.

The PPP General Secretary also updated the visiting president about the political situation in Guyana and that the ruling of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) next week Tuesday on the validity of the controversial no-confidence motion will determine if General and Regional Elections will be held or not.

Further to this, Jagdeo said he told the president that when PPP is victorious at the next general elections, he would be interested in taking up his offer to help Guyana in several areas. Jagdeo said that the Ghanaian President made it clear that his promise was not made to an individual or a party but to the country of Guyana.
