A money changer and his young daughter were shot dead just as they arrived at their Better Hope, East Coast Demerara (ECD) home this afternoon. The robbery happened around 15:00 hrs.

Dead are Aaron and 19-year-old Arianna Latchman of Robert Street, North Better Hope. They both died at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC).

The Guyana Standard has been informed that the duo had just arrived home and was about to exit their car when they were confronted by the armed men. According to the police, the shooters demanded cash the family was carrying. The older Latchman reportedly put up a fight when one of the men opened his car door, resulting in him being shot.

Both Latchmans were shot multiple times about the body.

It is unclear if the family was returning home from the bank. However, the police suspect that someone in Georgetown might have sent the gang to rob the family since the men were around the area, waiting on their victims to arrive home.

More information will follow shortly.
