“All them crackheads and everyone who does be on the busy street ain’t see me running with no bag. Something wrong with her story,” an upset Omar Boodhoo exclaimed in court after he was remanded to prison for allegedly snatching a friend’s handbag that contained $242,000 in cash.

Omar Boodhoo, 43, denied the charge which stated that on July 10, 2019, at Robb Street, Bourda, Georgetown, he stole one handbag valued at $7,500 and $242,000 in cash. The items were the property of Luanna Baksh.

An outspoken Boodhoo, in addressing the court, said, “The night I was keeping her company I did not steal her bag. Something definitely wrong because her story ain’t making sense.”

He added, ”First thing, the police came and arrested me at Bourda and if I been steal her bag with all that money I would not have been liming at Bourda.”

However, facts presented by Police Prosecutor Annalisa Brummel stated that on the day in question, the woman was standing on Robb Street when Boodhoo approached her from behind and snatched her handbag containing cash and documents. The woman turned around and saw Boodhoo running away with her bag. She then went and reported the matter at the Alberttown Police Station and Boodhoo was arrested for the offence.

The Magistrate, after listening to the facts, remanded Boodhoo to prison until August 2.
