In order to help advance the local tourism product, the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) is seeking the services of a Travel Industry Development Officer.

Today, the GTA in an advertisement published in the daily newspaper indicated that the services of such an expert are required on a full time or even part-time basis. In stressing the urgency to have this void filled, the GTA said that it is desirous of having the suitably qualified person to come on board as soon as possible.

The GTA has described the introduction of this novel position as a “significant opportunity for a tourism professional looking to join a growing team.”

GTA, which is located at the National Exhibition Centre, Sophia, is a semi-autonomous governmental agency. Its mission is to develop and promote sustainable tourism in Guyana through collaboration to maximise local socio-economic and conservation outcomes and improve the visitors’ experience.

Because of its wide tourism mandate, the Brian T. Mullis headed GTA announced, “We are seeking to fill a new position in Travel Industry Development, and we are seeking an experienced, motivated and high performing professional who is inspired by our mission and wants to play a leading role in the development of Guyana’s tourism sector.”
