An early morning boat accident in the Pomeroon River has resulted in the death of a 25-year-old miner. A second person has been hospitalized after the boat they were travelling in collided with a tree.

The accident occurred sometime between 12:30hrs and 01:00hrs this morning.

The deceased has been identified as Renny France of Grant Friendship Canal, Lower Pomeroon River. He died on arrival at the Oscar Joseph District Hospital. Dennon Lyte, 27, is hospitalized at the same hospital after suffering injuries.
