A miner was moments ago remanded to prison by Principal Magistrate Faith McGusty after being charged for attempting to break into the Mahdia Post Office.

Fifty-two-year-old Linden Flavious of Pepper Hill, 111 Miles, Mahdia, appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

He denied the charge which stated that on January 30, 2020 at 111 Miles, Mahdia, Essequibo Magisterial District, he attempted to break and enter the Mahdia Post Office and Living Quarter to steal.

Police Prosecutor Delon Sullivan objected to bail being granted to the defendant citing the prevalence of the offence in society.

The prosecutor also highlighted the fact that police arrived and apprehended the defendant on the scene.

The Magistrate, after listening to both sides remanded Flavious to prison until February 3 when he will appear before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
