Internationally recognized cricketer, Christopher Gayle, through his lawyer, Senior Counsel, Roysdale Forde, is asking attorney at law and People’s Progressive Party/Civic (PPP/C) member, Charles Ramson Jr. to withdraw statements he made almost two weeks ago.On January 30, Ramson told residents of the Queenstown, Albertown area that Gayle wants to collect the money that is still owed to him by the People’s National Congress Reform (PNCR). This was during a PPP/C public meeting.

Ramson said that he was reliably informed that Gayle is actively trying to get the outstanding money that was promised to him for his visit to Linden when PNCR celebrated its 62nd anniversary in October last. For this event, Gayle was pictured with several PNCR leaders.
Ramson said that Gayle was promised US$50,000 for the visit to Linden where he walked with PNCR officials and greeted supporters. However, the world-famous cricketer, according to Ramson, was only paid US$10,000 of the promised sum.

Gayle’s lawyer is now saying that the statements made by Ramson “are not only totally false and untrue but seems calculated to subject my client to ridicule and portray him as being paid by a political party in Guyana to engage in work on its behalf.”

In a letter seen by Guyana Standard, Forde further noted, “My client has engaged in a number of business ventures in Guyana, that is to say, he has held and or promoted a number of entertainment events branded on his personality and persona in Guyana and your statements are injurious to the financial success of these events by extension necessarily to the said business undertakings of my client in Guyana and worldwide.”

Forde stated, “I am instructed by my client to demand that you do issue a retraction of your statement within 24 (twenty-four) hours of receipt of this letter.”
