The Mayor and City Council for Georgetown has advised that with effect from Saturday, all Municipal markets will be closed until further notice. This includes road selling/ street vending, wholesalers/retailers, farmers, night sellers, snackettes, cookshop operators and all other categories of food sellers and street sellers.

It was further noted that all markets and street vending operations must cease from Friday at 7PM. Further to this , the Council said that farmers along with wholesalers and retailers will be permitted to ply their trade,and Stabroek and Bourda Markets from 7PM TO 1PM.
The Council noted that sales will be permitted at the Western portion of the Guyana Fire Service at StabroekMarket and on the Merriman’s Mall between Orange Walk and Light Street at Bourda Market.

It was noted that the operations for Friday farmers along with wholesalers and retailers will be conducted under strict guidelines for social distancing purposes. The Council also stressed that no Sunday street/road selling will be permitted at the Albouystown Market.
