Director of Primary Health Care Services, Dr. Ertenisa Hamilton, reported today that Guyana has recorded another COVID-19 case; taking the total number of cases to 125.

Yesterday, Guyana recorded seven new cases.

Dr Hamilton said that she is worried about the increase in cases.

The total number of persons tested to date is 1269 with the total number of negative cases being 1144.

Some 46 persons have so far recovered from the virus.

Recovered cases refer to persons who were affected with the disease and who now have been cleared with two negative results 24 hours apart and with no signs and symptoms of the virus.

These individuals can no longer infect others however they can be re-infected if they do not take precautions, she said.

There are sixty-nine (69) active cases in institutional isolation, 3 patients in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and the number of COVID deaths remains at 10.

Globally the statistics according to Word Health Organisation (WHO) are as follows: Total number of cases is 4, 618, 821 with 311, 847 deaths;
In the Region of the Americas the total number of cases is 2,017, 811 with 121, 609 Deaths.
