Guyana has recorded two new cases of the COVID-19 virus, says Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr Shamdeo Persaud. This takes the number of confirmed cases to 158, inclusive of 12 deaths and 92 recoveries.

Some 44 tests were conducted within the last 24 hours.

To date, the total number of persons tested is 1, 920 with the number of negative cases being 1,762.

There are 54 active cases in institutional isolation, one patient is in the COVID Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 22 persons in institutional quarantine, the CMO reported.

Globally, there are 7,145,539 cases with 408, 025 deaths. In the Region of the Americas, the total number of positive cases is 3, 415,174 with 185, 863 deaths.
