Police are investigating the death of a 31-year-old miner who was found dead on a road on his all-terrain vehicle ( ATV) at Kumung Kumung Backdam, Mazaruni River yesterday.

The dead man has been identified as Denzil Prince of Bartica, Essequibo River.

According to information, Prince was employed by a dredge owner of West Indian Housing Scheme, Bartica whose operation is located about two miles away from the Kumung Kumung landing.

According to the dredge owner,  about 16:30 hours yesterday, Prince left the pit in which they were working, and around 19:30 hrs, he was informed that Prince was found dead on the road on his ATV, bearing number plate GG 6474 ATV.

His body was taken to the Bartica Regional Hospital where he was officially pronounced dead. Upon examining his body, abrasions were seen on both knees.

The body awaits a post mortem examination. A preliminary examination of the ATV via photographs showed a bent front grill and left fender.  Investigators have been dispatched to the scene.
