An 18-year-old man, who is accused of killing his father was released on bail. He is being charged for manslaughter.

Rashane Joseph known as “John Crow”, a labourer of Itacha Village, West Bank Berbice, today, appeared at the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court.

It is alleged that on August 16, at Spencer Street Itaca, West Bank Berbice, Joseph unlawfully killed his father 42-year-old Collis Joseph called “Underdog.”

Joseph was released on 200,000 bail and was instructed to make his next court appearance on September 14, 2020.

Guyana Standard understands that at about 7:30hrs on the day in question, the father paid a visit to his son during which a fight erupted between them.

During the fight, the son allegedly threw a cutlass at his father, which landed on his chest. In return, the father allegedly pelted the cutlass at his son before collapsing.

The father was picked up by public-spirit persons and rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

The matter was reported and following an investigation, the teen was arrested and charged.
