A party of policemen lead by an officer from Regional Division #1, conducted a search at a hotel located in Port Kituma, North West District today, where  four Venezuelan nationals and two Guyanese were held.

The Venezuelans claimed to be miners in Venezuela, but are suspected to be members of the Syndicato gang, the police said.

They were arrested for failing to present themselves to immigration, while the Guyanese, who also claim to be miners, were arrested for aiding and abetting them to enter Guyana illegally.

No documentation were found to substantiate their claim. Along with the men, two All Terrain Vehicles ( ATV) along with GYD$100,000 and a quantity of gold was recovered.

Investigations are still ongoing.
