A 27-year-old motorcyclist is now dead and two injured following an accident at Republic Road and Pitt Street, New Amsterdam, on Sunday.

Dead is Jamal Joseph of Tucber Park, New Amsterdam, Berbice. Those hospitalised are Keil Noble and Sherlan Ceaser. The accident occurred at about 18:00hrs.

Reports are that motorcar PKK 8475, which was driven by a 22-year-old female, was proceeding north along the western side of the roadway when it is alleged that motorcycle CK 1731, driven by Joseph, attempted to overtake.

In the process of overtaking, Joseph collided head-on with motorcycle CK 2765, which was driven by 39-year-old Keil Noble with pillion rider Sherlan Ceaser. Joseph was not wearing a helmet, police said.

As a result of the collision, Noble lost control of his motorcycle and collided into the center front portion of motorcar PKK 8475.

Subsequently, both motorcyclists and pillion riders fell onto the road, where they received injuries to their bodies.

They were picked up in an unconscious state by public-spirited citizens and rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, where they were seen and examined by doctors on duty.

Joseph succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment. On other hand, Noble and Caesar are presently patients in the Accident and Emergency Unit.

Noble is suffering from injuries to his body, with his condition listed as critical. Caesar is conscious with minor injuries to his body.
