The Ministry of Housing and Water – Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) has hit the ground running in the new year, inviting bids for 18 housing projects across four regions.

Housing and Water Minister, Collin Croal, at a recent housing exercise, said the sector’s advancement provides major spin-off benefits for the economy. “When our Government invests in the housing sector, there is a direct positive effect on job creation in the construction sector, increased spending and a greater demand for basic goods and services. All of this results in good things for small and medium-scale businesses, truckers, taxi drivers, bus operators, carpenters, painters and many others.”

Region Three residents can look forward to developments in Meten-Meer-Zorg, Stewartville, Anna Catherina, Edinburgh and Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara.

In Region Four, development will take place in Prospect, Providence, Little Diamond and Great Diamond on the East Bank Demerara and Cummings Lodge, Mon Repos, Annandale, La Bonne Intention, Vigilance, Bladen Hall and Strathspey on the East Coast.

Meanwhile, in Regions Five and Six, works are slated for Experiment, Hampshire, Williamsburg, No. 75 Village, No. 79 Village, Ordnance, Fortlands and Canje.
