A 29-year-old man was killed on Saturday afternoon after the motorcycle he was riding collided with a motor car.

Dead is Adrile Drakes of Blueberry Hill, Wismar, Linden. The accident occurred at about 16:30hrs on Sir David Rose Avenue Public road Mackenzie, Linden.

Reports are that a motor car driven by 68-year-old Clifton Codogan, a pensioner, was proceeding north on the western side of Sir David Rose Avenue Public road while Drakes was proceeding in the opposite direction at an alleged fast rate of speed.

Guyana Standard understands that while negotiating a left bend, Drakes lost control of the motorcycle and collided with the right side front of the motor car, and fell onto the road, where he received injuries about his body.

He was picked up by public-spirited citizens in an unconscious state and taken to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty and succumbed while receiving medical attention.

The vehicles were lodged, and the motor car driver is presently in custody assisting with the investigations.
