Two water truck operators were robbed yesterday at 17th Street, Dazzle Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara (ECD) by two individuals, one armed with a cutlass, and the other with a handgun.

Fabian Rampersaud, 27, was relieved of one CAT cell phone valued at $16,000, one gold chain valued at $35,000, and one car key, while 35-year-old, Yasendra Bedessie, was robbed of $15,080, one LG cellphone valued at $25,000 and one NTech cell phone. Inquiries disclosed that both of the victims are employed with AquaFina Water Delivery Service. Rampersaud works as the driver, while Yasendra carries out the duties of a porter.

Police said that as Rampersaud was in the process of turning around the canter, they were confronted by the two suspects who came on a bicycle.

The suspect armed with the handgun approached the driver’s side, while the other, who was armed with the cutlass, went to the passenger side and lashed the window causing the same to shatter. They then demanded cash before placed their hands into the vehicle and relieved the victims of the mentioned articles and cash. The suspects then made good their escape.

Investigations are in progress.
