Rondell Bacchus, also known as ‘Killa’ has surrendered to police hours after a wanted bulletin was issued for him for questioning in relation to the murder of 42-year-old Ricardo Fagundes, called ‘Paper Shorts.”

Fagundes was gunned down infront of the Palm Court, Georgetown, on March 21, 2021.

While the police have confirmed the surrender, prison officials have remained mum concerning the release of Bacchus.

Bacchus was sentenced to 16 years’ imprisonment back in 2019 for the July 2008 murder of scrap metal dealer Akbar Alli.

In that matter, Bacchus pleaded guilty to the lesser count of manslaughter. Justice Navindra Singh ordered that the prison authority deduct the time he spent in pre-trial custody from the sentence—which is 11 years. Ultimately, Bacchus was to only spend five years from 2019.

Pressed by media officials for an explanation, the Director of the Corporate Communications Unit of the Guyana Police Force, Mark Ramotar posited the following: “What I can confirm is that Bacchus was released from prison and is out…the acting prison director can offer further details as to when he was released, etc…I can’t and won’t speak for the prison service….tnks [sic]”.
