The Attorney General (AG) and Legal Affairs Minister, Anil Nandlall has filed a Notice of Appeal; challenging a ruling today, in which the Chief Justice (CJ), Roxane George deemed two government Parliamentary Secretaries, Sarah Browne and Vikash Ramkissoon, as illegally sitting in the National Assembly.

The CJ’s ruling now clears the way for the Speaker of the National Assembly, Mansoor Nadir to remove Browne and Ramkissoon.

It was Opposition Chief Whip, Christopher Jones who brought the action. He was represented by fellow parliamentarian and Attorney-at-law, Roysdale Forde.

Nandlall, in documents seen by this publication, said that the CJ “misconstrued and misinterpreted” Articles 113, 186 and 103(3) of the Constitution of Guyana in arriving at her decision that Browne and Ramkissoon are not lawful members of, and cannot sit in the National Assembly of the 12th Parliament of Guyana.
