Former Deputy Finance Officer, Assistant Superintendent Roxanne Griffith-Adams was today charged with conspiracy to commit a felony and was released on $150,000 bail.

Griffith-Adams is jointly charged with Police Finance Officer, Woman Senior Superintendent (ag) Marcelene Washington and former Deputy Commander of Division 4 ‘B’, Woman Superintendent Lorraine Saul. But while the two women are not in the jurisdiction, Griffith-Adams alone was read the charge which she was not required to plead to.

The charge was read at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts by Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan.

It is llalleged that the trio, between November 2 and November 24, 2020,with intent to defraud, conspired with each other and other persons while being Officers employed by the Guyana Police Force (GPF), to falsify the feeding account of the Felix Austin Police College in the sum of $1.1 million.

These charges stemmed from a massive investigation being conducted by SOCU in relation to over $300 million fraud allegedly committed at the Police Finance Office by several high-ranking officers of the Guyana Police Force.

The matter was adjourned until May 14.

Yesterday, the Special Organized Crimes Unit (SOCU) instituted similar charges to other senior police officers. These charges stemmed from a multimillion dollar fraud allegedly committed at the Police Finance Office by several high-ranking officers of the Guyana Police Force.

An audit was conducted in 2020, after the change of government which revealed several major issues that were later investigated by the Police, hence members of the GPF have been charged.

Thus far, Former Deputy Finance Officer, Deputy Superintendent, Frank Jackman- Wilburg, Assistant Superintendent Kurt Smith, Retired Assistant Police Commissioner Kevin Adonis, Police Sergeant Michael Corbin, Police Sergeant Jermaine Fraser and Police Corporal Rawl Haynes, Police Woman Constable Jennika Carmichael and Police Woman Constable Tatayana Smith were charged as part of the investigation and have been released on bail.
